The strongest system is a chain with no weak links. Eagle chain links have a smooth radius, with no sharp edges or chamfers, which yield a significant reduction in noise, friction and wear. This design also allows for a flatter plate, which means more consistent chain riveting and greater overall strength.
Installation is made easy with a dedicated speed Eagle quick link. This is due to the new finishing process on the inner links and rollers. Push pin strength and ultimate strength are equivalent to our current chains. SRAM chain engineers developed PowerLock as a tool free, sure, and consistent way to connect our chains. While PL does not require special tools for install, the especially tight tolerances of and speed drivetrains mandate that each PowerLock is good for a one-time application only.
The sharp and narrow tooth profile, as well as rounded chamfer edges, help manage a deflected chain. To provide the best possible performance in muddy conditions, the X-SYNC chainrings have been designed with mud-clearing recesses for the inner chain links and rollers.

Eagle is a lighter, simpler, more durable, and easier to use drivetrain. Eagle features all-new 1x components, engineered for even greater durability and performance while maintaining a significant weight advantage over other drivetrain solutions. Ultra-smooth chain inner-plates are completely devoid of square edges, resulting in a chain that engages the cassette and chainring with far less friction, for quieter performance and better wear life. The design allows a narrower overall profile that can withstand greater angles, and also allows for a flatter outer-plate, which means more consistent chain riveting and enhanced overall strength.

For the best independent information on chains available, refer to detail in product description below. This is fine in cases where all aspects of the drivetrain work brilliantly, less so if it is the case that one brands chain has much higher efficiency losses vs other brands. Also note that many 12 speed drivetrains tend to have very expensive drive train components.
This makes your lubricant choice critical with regards to running costs as well as low friction for those who do race. At this time ZFC does not have outright efficiency test data for record 12 speed, however to date all efficiency testing for previous campy chains have shown them to be a top performing chain and this is not expected to change for their 12 speed.
Their 12 speed record chain did test with a measurably lower lifespan vs their 11spd chain however, so ensure keep a regular check on chain wear due to cost of Record 12 speed components. Very handily, the Record 12 speed chain is same dimensions as Sram Eagle 12 speed chain so for those looking for best possible performance and longevity, you can use mspeedwax simply by using Sram eagle master links to pop chain on and off.
AXS wireless in a very impressive system in many ways, however ZFC has to be a straight shooter here — the move to 10t cog and smaller chain ring sizes is a step backwards regarding drivetrain efficiency. For the same reason Oversize pulley wheel systems save chain watt losses due to less chain articulation, going smaller Rings and correspondingly smaller cog size for given gear inches increases losses. There are no aftermarket AXS road chains on the market at this time, and none are on the horizon that we are aware of.
The very high cost of AXS road chain rings with integrated spider especially integrated power meter spider as well as cost of cassette — lubricant choice and maintenance is critical for on both the efficiency front as well as parts lifespan. This is the most fun area yet. Again the higher level eagle components are very, very expensive, and of course riding off road presents huge challenges for many lubricants.
The chain is completely exposed to the dirt and dust and most are using a liquid lubricant. It is very tricky for liquid lubricants to not quickly into a grinding paste masquerading as a lubricant. Imagine removing the dust seals off your bearings and riding around — how would they feel after a couple of rides?
Yes your lubricant will claim it cleans as it lubes etc. If you wish to know how well it is actually doing that please refer to key learnings from lubricant testing round 1. It cannot be overstated the difference in parts lifespan and running costs for mtb and cx for running top lube choice vs meh or poor lube choice.
They are astoundingly long lasting. Alas, they are also probably the slowest chain tested to date, with efficiency testing needing to be stopped at the 2 hour mark as losses were off the scale of the machine 8.
In short a great training chain — not the fastest choice for racing. KMC x12 Eagle — Probably one of the fastest chains ever tested.
In same test above, the KMC eagle was stable at 3.
SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain review
Also rather annoyingly — kmc coatings have wax treatments feeling very dry very quickly. Mspeedwax is ok for around 2 hours before feeling very dry indeed, quite a contrast to the still silky smooth riding on sram chains after 8 to 10 hours of training. Recommend as a dedicated XC race chain only. Yes chains snap — sometimes at high power, sometimes at low power. In all cases it is due to a single weak point from manufacture, not the outright tensile strength the chain should it have been manufactured without fault.
Campy Record 12 speed chain dimensions are almost identical to Sram eagle so eagle master links work perfectly, and shifting on eagle drivetrain system has been perfect in field testing. Larger frames with longer chain stays or if running an oversize pulley wheel system — you may need more.
So count how many links your current chain is prior to ordering.Item SRMY. With the amount of nail-biting concern over chain strength that accompanied speed drivetrains, SRAM had its work cut out to create the even thinner X01 Eagle Speed Chain speed Chain. In true SRAM style, the company met this challenge head-on and redefined chain construction along the way.
The final product is a chain that's 0. The Eagle chain starts out with even flatter sheets than standard chains and goes through an unprecedented 37 steps to develop each plate.
This results in precisely shaped pin holes that let the pin sit flush with the plate for increased security and durability. SRAM incorporates its Smooth Link technology, which removes the inner face chamfers that were used to help facilitate front chainring shifts. This leaves a smooth plate face that moves across the cogs quietly and reduces chainring wear in its ability to avoid trapping mud against the moving surfaces.
It also adds a Hard Chrome treatment to the rollers and inner plates to further resist wear and promote durability. Actual weights are measured in-house by the Competitive Cyclist team. Keep it clean and it will keep you happy! Built up 4 bikes with this chain and never an issue. I have a couple running now probably longer that I should, but hey, I may as well push this stuff and really test it. If you're running eagle, get it. I'm on my 2nd X01 Eagle chain. Going on almost 2 years, I have never had a failure so you can't ask much more from a chain.

I have noticed they do not show wear on your traditional chain stretch guides so I've just been replacing them every 8 to 12 months. With the cost of SRAM cassettes, I'd rather be safe and stay on top of chain maintenance rather than buying new cassettes.
I've run this with both eagle chainrings and 11 speed one up components switch chainrings with great retention and durability. Gets the job done! Lasts a long time and is easy to maintain.Senco pc1131 schematic
It will be a little lighter than the GX but not quite as light as the XX1. I even ran one of these on my 11 speed for a while and could not tell a difference.
It's a chain, and with some lube this thing seems to last an eternity. I check it for wear weekly and finally decided to replace because it simply wasn't stretching. Call it yearly maintenance.Star live tv
Snapped at the start line of race 24 hours after install. Not much to report on this chain as it has about miles on it and shows no sign of stopping soon!
It feels awesome to be able to put faith in your chain and not worry about replacing a link in the middle of the woods. Not to mention you can put all of the power down you want without feeling like your going to slam your knee into the stem when it breaks.Coco coir for sale

In the hubbub surrounding the release of SRAM's new one-by speed Eagle drivetrains, the cassette and XX1 Eagle Speed Chain have undoubtedly stolen the show with their golden bling and groundbreaking technology.
SRAM met the challenge of creating a chain that could handle off-road abuse with smooth-shifting accuracy by investing in all-new tooling and redefining how chains are made. The advent of speed was met with many a pearl-clutching concern about the strength and reliability of such a narrow chain, and slimming it down another 0.
The Eagle chain starts out with even flatter sheets than standard chains and goes through an unprecedented 37 steps to develop each plate. The end result is precisely shaped pin holes that let the pin sit flush with the plate for increased security and durability.
And last, but not least, that glittering gold bling isn't there solely for looks. The glitzy aesthetics come courtesy of a Ti Nitride finish that increases durability and reduces friction compared to non-coated chains. Ti Nitride does for this chain what anti-friction coatings have done for suspension forks--makes everything run smoother, quieter, and more reliably over time, so you can focus on the ride without worrying about your drivetrain.

The clicks of the GX Eagle shifter are a bit less crisp and a touch less smooth. From the top tier XX1 to GX, they all display the mildly annoying free float on the bigger lever.
One noticeable feature the GX Eagle shifter lacks is the adjustable thumb lever. On XX1 and X01 shifters, the big lever can be positioned for dialing in your personal ergonomics. To keep the shifting quick and accurate, the XG cassette shares the same tooth ramps and profiles as the extremely fancy X-Dome cassettes.
Even pushing up into the monstrous 50t granny gear was easy. Chain retention has been perfect. Durability over a few hundred miles has been good as well. The chainring is showing some wear and the derailleur has a scratch or three, but the shifting feel and accuracy is still on par from when it was shiny new.
However, Shimano still offers two-chainrings and a front derailleur, with a wider gear range, should that fit your riding style and terrain better. This means that if those few grams keep you awake at night, you can drop the coin on a nicer, lighter cassette or crankarms and narrow the gap to X01 in overall weight.
With the extra budget, get better wheels or suspension. Our rating. April 9, at pm. Latest deals. Pros: Great shifting, low cost, wide gear range, chain retention. Excellent service and delivery time again. High quality chain at a good price. Great Product, I find that this chain a treat on both 11 and 12 speed group sets. It seems to be a massive step up from the GX level 11 speed chain.
Very happy with the price and performance. This chain won't make you a better rider, but it will make your bike better. I use it on an 11 speed setup as it's the quietest and best shifting chain on the market for a reasonable price. Also does a pretty good job of resisting back pedal chain drop.
